when my cousin jen came to visit she told me she was going to phuket with her family in a few weeks and asked me to come along. it didn't take much convincing. then when i called my dad for help to find the cheapest airline tickets he suggested that i fly out early and meet him for a few days in singapore.
let me get this straight.
i get to fly to singapore, lay on top of the marina sands infinity pool for a few days with my best friend who conveniently lives in singapore, get to hang out with my dad pretty much uninterrupted for three days and all the while eating my fill of chicken rice/dim sum/mango sticky rice?
wait and THEN. i get to fly out to phuket, meet up with some of the greatest people on the planet who happen to be my cousins, and lay on a beach for five days?
i know, i know. it's been a rough life.
my dad and i in one of our favourite spots, clark quay
where i had my first job - as a waitress at brewerks
a night shot of our hotel, the marina sands hotel
the infinity pool on top of the marina sands

in singapore you find all the best food at hawker stalls - and one of the best was conveniently 5 minutes away from my house growing up.

dining on sting ray and pepper crab

the most famous dish in singapore is called chicken rice. don't let the simple title fool you. it's heaven and i crave it at least a few times a month. so i went back i made sure i had it every day i was there.
