obssessing

who knew that all it took was the chance to design my own place that a whole new obsession would arise?
i'm officially in love with all things with furniture. neil and i have always loved walking through furniture stores together (perfect date night - go to an over the top design store and dream up your perfect house!), but now i've taken it to a whole new level. all i do at work is google for the next great piece. of course my taste doesn't quite fit my budget. i just keep telling myself one day....

i'm currently obsessing over these thanks to my amazing cousin morgan:

tolix cafe chairs. they've been around since the 1930s and the design has made it into the MOMA. for good reason.

who knew glavanised steel could be so pretty!

because they're 250 a chair they will not be making their way into my apartment any time soon. but luckily i've got some similar ones that are on their way.

and then there's this designer:

ligne roset makes the world's most beautiful (and comfortable) couches. i always give neil a hard time because he hates every couch he sits on. not a joke. but our friend JB has this classically beautiful couch that neil and i both loved. he's also famous for his more interesting designs like this one that i love called yang:

wouldn't you want a couch like this in your den so you can fully stretch out while watching a movie?

if you want your day made go look at his 2011 collection on his website http://www.ligne-roset-usa.com/. i love so much of it!

my love for all things furnishings also expands to the kitchen. i found this amazing designer Astier De Villatte who designs exquisite ceramics that are individually handmade using centuries-old techniques. i discovered her dishes at liberty (if you are ever in london you.have.to.go to liberty - one of my all time favourite shops) and fell in love then and there. i'm not kidding when i say there were a few times i went into liberty just to make a visit to these plates.

i'll take any belated wedding/housewarming gifts in the form of Astier De Villatte plates! :)

last but definitely not least. i stumbled upon these at harrod's right before i left

is it possible you could covet flatware? not a normal thing to dream about at night but i do. oh i do. i told neil i'd even cut back on my diet coke intake so i can start on putting the extra cash into my la tavola piggy bank.

a girl can dream, right?
