an american thanksgiving in london

so it's nearly christmas, so it seems like a good time to post our thanksgiving pics (fashionably late... right?)

this year we celebrated thanksgiving with all our american friends that are here in london (along with our favourite aussies!). it turned out great, thanks to our amazing hosts, simon and julie.

this was also the first year julie and i have ever attempted cooking a turkey. luckily, she found probably the best (read: most fattening) turkey recipe i've ever had and she did all the heavy duty work with defrosting etc. i got to just throw some chicken broth and parsley on top for my part and call it helping.

the before:

and the after:

the trick is to stuff pieces of butter between the skin to keep it moist. it was honestly amazing.

neil had the duty of cutting the turkey. last year simon and neil youtubed how to cut a turkey, so he was prepared.

simon enjoying his helping.

exhibit a of why aussies are invited to the feast. have you ever seen a prettier pie?!?

we didn't take the dessert table responsibility lightly.

our favourites.

honestly one of my favourite thanksgivings i've had.

get ready - cheesy moment ahead: this day was a great reminder of how thankful we are for our time that we have in london and what an amazing experience it has been. and with friends like these, who wouldn't be loving their london life?
