oh that's right, i did it. only because my some miracle stephen colbert saved that song from only bringing bad memories to mind when heard.

haven't see it yet? do it now.

but back to my real point. friday finally means something to me again. why? because i'm - gasp - working.

i've been temping since i've been in new york and it's been great. it's all admin work, so it's pretty simple stuff. it's the ultimate way to work. you still get paid a decent wage and you get to name the days you want off. there have been a few days here and there where i haven't been called in for a job (allowing me to catch up on all grey's, brother and sisters, glee, and any other horribly bad show i would never make neil watch when we're together), but for the most part i've been lucky enough to get a job on the days i want one.

i was asked to work this week in the legal department of a hedge fund and when i looked at the name of the fund, i realised that it was the same company that my good friend simon worked for up until this past december. small world. then i show up and even though the company is spread out on 4 floors i'm literally sitting next to his old team. smaller world.

then the week goes by and HR gets hold of my resume and realises that my background is in finance. and funny enough they are looking for a longer-term temp on their derivatives swaps desk. which is the exact desk simon worked on

which is now the desk that i'll be working on until further notice.

the coincidence was too funny. and i really like the company. so i've decided to rejoin the ranks of working men and women. at least for awhile. i'll work here until the summer and then go back to my original schedule so i can have my first summer in i don't-know-how-long relatively free.

then i'll get serious again. boo. but hopefully by then i'll know what i want to do with my life!
