a sunny saturday

on one of the first sunny weekends neil and i took advantage and walked around the city. and when i say walked i mean walked. with all the side streets and detours it was close to 4 miles.

we started at our place on 16th street and wandered uptown. we stumbled upon our first street fair of the season. i've heard there are great fairs throughout the summer. i can't wait! though i'm still waiting to find a market that comes close to comparing to burough market. if you do only one thing in london let it be borough market.

sorry neil. just now noticing your eyes aren't open in this pic.

then we stopped into macy's to see the flower show. literally EVERYTHING in the store was covered in flowers. it was so beautiful and a fun "stumble-upon" activity.

and this picture below, my friends, is exhibit A of seriously why i love new york. who needs to go pay for a movie when you've got free entertainment on the streets!

passed by this sign while heading through times square. as sad as I am to see d will leave the jazz i'm pretty excited that we'll get to see him once the nets move to brooklyn next season!

we went and checked out the hudson hotel on our friend's recommendation.

we wandered another 10 blocks up to check out the new york temple and then as neil was chatting way on the phone with longtime friend i tricked him into walking to this stop another ten blocks up.

oh my goodness. i have finally found it. the best cookies on earth.

it's good thing i live 60 blocks away or else they would be too hard to stay away from. let me highly, highly recommend the dark chocolate and peanut butter. it was our dessert for the next two days.

what a great day. and what a great reminder of how much we LOVE this city!
